Despite the current economic mood of gloom we are hopeful of building on the successes and new initiatives of 2008. Our bespoke panel business has increased its customer base significantly and in the modular build sector a new panel construction offering the highest security capability has proved very successful. In the Commercial Vehicle Division, a favourable exchange rate is adding to our export competitiveness and after investing in significant additional capacity the market leading Smoothliner 3 flush door system is now available on greatly reduced lead times and is more competitive than ever. We will also be introducing a new universal locking mechanism, complementary door system and slip resistant flooring range.

Normanton can produce a huge range of architectural panels suitable for domestic, public or commercial building applications. The variety of sizes, thicknesses and core and facing materials which we can combine to produce the customer’s ideal architectural panels is huge, with standard configurations available ex stock and an almost limitless array of bespoke alternatives also possible to order.

Facings include all the usual architectural panel finishes such as:-

  • Aluminium, external polyester coil or architectural powder coat painted in standard white or any specified RAL, BS or other matched colour
  • Mill finish or anodised panel options are also possible
  • PVC in a variety of thicknesses, colours and surface finishes
  • GRP similarly in various possible options
  • Galvanised steel in polyester, textured plastisol or vinyl laminate coatings, again in the usual range of colours, patterns and textures.
  • High pressure laminate in all exterior grades, thicknesses and finish textures, colours and patterns
Insulating rigid foams are the most widely used cores in architectural panels, typically expanded or extruded polystyrene. Alternatively for improved insulation or mechanical properties, polyurethane, polyisocyanurate, PVC, phenolic or hybrid foams can also be incorporated. Besides simply the thickness of the insulation core, there are many possible variations that can be selected within each of this range of foam types to give the required characteristics of weight, thermal insulation, fire retardance, compressive strength, impact resistance and panel strength and rigidity.

Where for instance durability and mechanical or fire resistant properties are of greater importance than thermal insulation and weight, alternative solid cores such as timber or cement based materials can be utilised. For instance WBP hardwood plywoods, available ex stock in various thicknesses or cement, gypsum, calcium silicate or other rigid and highly fire resistant cores are just some typical examples of what allows us to offer the widest range of architectural panels you are likely to find anywhere.

After more than 30 successful years in business, Normanton have invested in the most experienced staff, highly developed production and QA systems and probably the most efficient, modern and sophisticated high speed laminating plant in the industry. We are therefore confident that we will be able to consistently offer the quality, quantity and delivery lead times you require on your architectural panels and not least of course at the most competitive possible costs.
