Despite the current economic mood of gloom we are hopeful of building on the successes and new initiatives of 2008. Our bespoke panel business has increased its customer base significantly and in the modular build sector a new panel construction offering the highest security capability has proved very successful. In the Commercial Vehicle Division, a favourable exchange rate is adding to our export competitiveness and after investing in significant additional capacity the market leading Smoothliner 3 flush door system is now available on greatly reduced lead times and is more competitive than ever. We will also be introducing a new universal locking mechanism, complementary door system and slip resistant flooring range.

To ensure the highest and most consistent quality along with minimised production costs, Normanton have invested heavily in a new purpose built factory hosting a wide range of state of the art high technology sizing, laminating, fabrication and automated mechanical handling plant.

Panel Lamination Line After over 30 years of experience, having both the expertise and equipment to fully utilise many adhesives, including the very latest technologies and systems available for laminating, allows Normanton to ensure the optimum method is adopted for each individual material combination through one of the most versatile and capable laminating facilities in the industry.

The range of materials we are therefore able to utilise in achieving the specific panel properties required is enormous, including:

  • Aluminium of various grades and finishes
  • Steels including painted, primed, galvanised and stainless grades
  • Lead
  • , used especially as a facing for construction/lining panels in radiology areas.
  • Rubber and Plastics; a wide range including GRP, PVC, Acrylic, Polycarbonate and ABS
  • Lightweight/Insulation Foams; many types including EPS, XPS, PU, PIR, Phenolic, all with differing characteristics and levels of mechanical and compressive strength, insulation and fire resistance.
  • Wood based sheets; all types such as plywood, MDF, OSB and particle board
  • Decorative HP laminates of all types
  • Dry Lining or Plasterboards based on Cement, Gypsum or other compositions with high fire resistant and sound insulation properties.

Honeycombs also are increasingly used to offer excellent strength to weight ratios and the material used, whether aluminium, polycarbonate, polypropylene or other more specialist variants, will be selected according to the required individual properties of the panel.

Commercial Vehicle Door test rigs We have further invested in a unique test facility designed in house to allow us to conduct bespoke product testing and development specific to industry requirements and regulatory standards.
